Education

College: Graduated Summa cum Laude from Suffolk University with a B.S. in Sociology and a double minor in Psychology and Politics, Law, and the Courts in 2012. I was also a member of the SU Step Team. My freshman year was spent at McDaniel College, where I was a member of the Psychology Club, Hispano-Latino Alliance, and the Belly Dance Club. High School: Top 10%, National Honor Society, Best and Brightest; Band, School Newspaper, Interact Club

Experience

I have taught Adult Education/GED prep since graduating college in 2012, working through AmeriCorps and two community colleges. In 2012, I became certified in tutoring by Literacy Pro. I also have experience tutoring in Spanish and ESOL. Most of my classes have focused on math, and I have experience with students ranging from beginning to college-level courses. My primary classes focused on algebra 1, pre-algebra, graphing, decimals, fractions, and percents. I scored very high on my SAT and ACT, and was in the 95th percentile on my English SAT II tests. I enjoy working with motivated students to help them better understand their schoolwork and to work toward being the best student they can be. For me, meeting students where they are to help them look at concepts in different ways is very important. I endeavor to tailor each lesson to the individual, acknowledging that a one-size-fits-all approach is rarely the best way to learn. In school, I was a straight-A student, and I prided myself on my ability to look at things in different ways in order to better understand them. In college, I was Summa cum Laude, as well as a member of Alpha Kappa Delta, the Sociology National Honor Society. In high school, I graduated in the top 10% of my class and was a member of the National Honor Society.

Hobbies

My interests are varied, and I enjoy going out and experiencing new things. To relax, I like to spend time with my dog, cook, and watch the Food Network. I also enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I am a huge baseball fan (go O's!), and I try to go to both Orioles and Baysox games as often as possible during the season.
